Wearing extensions is something very common nowadays. It's a great protective style and is also very versatile. It is sad to see sometimes that many ladies neglect the hair underneath and focus only on the care of the extensions only. This then leads to damaged hair.
Here are a few tips you can follow to prevent any damage and promotes healthy hair growth.
Ensuring that your hair is clean to get rid of any dead skin cells and buildup is very important. If you don't remove impurities from your hair before adding extensions there are chances of dryness, itching, and flaking. We know some of you know what that's like😫. Make sure your hair is conditioned as it is important to add some moisture to your hair. Dry hair = breakage.
Tip: make sure you're using good quality sulfate-free products.
Argan oil is a great oil that can be applied directly to the scalp by the use of an applicator bottle with a nozzle tip. This is great to give your hair and scalp the vitamins it needs to grow healthy. Also using lightweight spray leave-in are the perfect way to add a little boost of moisture every day or so. You can also add coconut oil and jojoba oil.
Having tight hair extensions causes lots of tension on the hair follicles and this can make your hair fall out. This could even lead to permanent hair loss. If you do feel like the hairstylist is doing the extensions a bit tight, it's okay to let them know.
You can still clean your scalp without water. You can do this using baby wipes by gently rubbing onto your scalp to remove grease and dirt. This could be done at least once a week.
If you do want to wash your hair whilst your extensions are still in, we recommend you dilute your shampoo with some water. Ensure that you rinse the shampoo well with clean water and leave no traces of it on the hair or extension.
We hope you've learnt something that you will start doing today if you don't usually. Keep your eyes posted for more tips.💜
