I’m just going to cut to the chase - a lot of black owned retailers are not run by black people. Are you shocked? Probably not. These huge well known companies are lying to your face with false ‘black owned’ advertising. Let me just let you in on a few brands that are FAKE black owned. Curlscurls, Better Length, and Hergivenhair

Yep, I said what I said! A lot of these companies have black employees and try to use that as a way to claim that they are black owned. Fact check: it’s not the same. So? Why should we care?

If you’re a part of the To All My Black Girls family, I know you care about our black community, and agree that supporting one another is crucial. This false black owned narrative is wrong, because it weakens the circulation of money within our communities who should be prospering and growing. Supporting real, authentic black businesses is the only way to actually tackle issues such as poverty in our community. 

That’s literally why I started all of this. I’m proud to say that To All My Black Girls is 100% black owned, and I strive to uplift my community of beautiful black women who deserve to feel empowered and unstoppable. All I’m saying is to do your research and be mindful of whose pockets you’re filling up. Because these lies and half truths have real effects on US!
